Private Investigation in Narcotics Division

Another area that private investigators often work in is the narcotics division of a local, state or federal police department.

Private investigators in Sumter, SC just finished up a three month narcotic investigation, resulting in the arrest of one drug dealer.  Disguised as druggies, the investigators purchased illegal drugs, including cocaine, from the man on several occasions.  The drug dealer even went as far as to sell the druggies a non-narcotic substance, claiming it was a drug.

The investigation came to an end this past Tuesday, July 2, when the investigators arrested the dealer.  He is presently being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center pending his trial.

Speak Softly Someone May Be Listening

Did you know that the government recently passed the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA)?  Do you have any idea what this means?

In their own words this new law now requires that "telecommunication carriers and manufacturers of telecommunications equipment modify and design their equipment, facilities, and services to ensure that they have the necessary surveillance capabilities."  In common every day words, it simply means that this law makes it easier for law enforcement agencies to tap into your phone, internet connection, VOIP etc.

Undercover Investigation in Polk County, Florida Turns Up 41 Child Predators

June 17, 2013

During the past week private investigators have been conducting surveillance in Polk County, looking for online child predators.  Forty-one were arrested including one female.  The suspects answered ads from places such as Craigslist and Backpage and talked with investigators on social media sites.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that even though this private investigation is the tenth operation of its kind that has been carried out since 2006, and in spite of the fact that the arrests are broadcast through the media and suspects are placed under arrest, men and women continue to travel to Polk County, Florida, to have sex with a child.  He assured the people that private investigators will continue to hunt down and arrest those who come there for that purpose.
Theme park employees, a football coach for youth, an electrician and a law enforcement academy graduate were all a part of those caught in immorality this week.

Among the charges faced by the suspects are things such as unlawful use of a two-way communication device, attempted lewd batter, seduce/solicit/entice to commit a sexual act, drug possession, traveling to meet a minor and procuring a minor for prostitution among other things.

What Would You Do?

Susan Cox Powell and her two boys

What would you do if your daughter had been missing for nearly four years, and now the police decide to stop searching for your daughter, because "they have run out of tips"?  However, your daughter is gone, your two grandsons are dead, your son-in-law is dead, his brother is dead and their father is in jail on pornography charges.  Susan Powell's father has decided to take things in his own hands by hiring a private investigator and starting his own private investigation.

He and his private investigator will begin by searching along a 400 mile stretch of Interstate 84 that runs between Pendleton, Oregon and Tremonton, Utah.  After being interviewed by the police for the first time, Josh Powell rented a car on December 8, 2009.  When he returned the rental car on December 10, the odometer showed he had driven 807 miles.  During the time he was gone, he activated new cell phones in Tremonton, Utah.

Susan's dad and the investigator will hand out flyers as they talk with local residents and law enforcement officers along the road.  They hope to find someone who remembers something about that fateful night when Susan disappeared in 2009.

The Importance of Undercover Videos and Recordings

There are numerous ways to use the concept of private investigations.  Today there are two organizations that are using it to bring to light the corruption that is all around us.  The first time we heard about this was several years ago when James O'Keefe and his companion exposed Planned Parenthood for what they were.

With Planned Parenthood, Mr. O'Keefe and his companion dresses as a pimp and a prostitute and presented the idea of bringing girls from a Latin country to the US and forming a house of prostitution.  Planned Parenthood answered their questions and explained to them exactly what they would need to do and how to do it.  Mr. O'Keefe took videos and recorded every conversation with a secret camera.  This was eventually exposed to lawmakers and Americans across the United States.

Mr. O'Keefe's next project was to find out how he could vote in the election several times so his candidate would be sure to win.  Representing the state of Virginia, Representative Jim Moran's son was caught on video telling Project Veritas that it could be done, but that they would have to "forge utility bills."

Their most recent undercover project exposed the hypocrisy of those pushing gun control laws that would leave people defenseless in their homes.  When these people were offered a sign proclaiming that their home was "gun free", none of them were willing to place it in their front yard. Learn more about these projects and see the videos at Project Veritas.

Recently a pro-life website  has released three undercover videos on the abortion industry.  People across America have been shocked as abortion doctors or nurses have made statements such as, "We will not resuscitate a baby born alive after a botched abortion", or a baby born alive after a botched abortion should just be flushed down the toilet".  These videos and other pro-life information can be found at Life News.

Undercover videos are an excellent way to expose the corruption running rampant in America today.  It doesn't matter if you are a professional private investigator or if you are just an amateur who wants to see if there is something he/she can do to make a difference.  Just make sure you follow the laws in the state you live in.  The Project Veritas website lists the laws of each state.  Many states allow undercover videos and recordings if just one of the parties is in agreement, making this a feasible occupation in many areas

The Importance of an Investigator’s Job

As our entire nation watched another terrorist attack take place on American soil, we saw a couple of things happen.  First of all, people forgot about themselves and the danger they were facing and concentrated on helping those around them.  It was a beautiful picture of what has made America great for all these years.  Ordinary everyday people worked right alongside medical professionals, and no one pointed out the difference.

As people were moved from the scene to the hospitals and the street began to clear, investigators of different kinds began to move in and do their job.  It was up to them to secure the area to keep the evidence from becoming contaminated.  This is the first step in making sure that the individual or individuals who perpetrated this terrible crime can be brought to justice.

It is the job of the investigators working the crime scene to find evidence and to conserve it.  They look for anything they can find to prove the case in court.  They must be extremely careful not to leave their fingerprints on evidence that is found.

Over and over investigators have asked that people come forward with any information that might help them find the perpetrator.  Pictures that were taken, suspicious actions or words or mere suspicions are being looked at with the greatest of care.  It is not always a large, important clue that solves the case. This is the important job of an investigator.

Is There a Person That Gives You the Willies?

In a neighborhood in South Dakota, a mom and her three kids lived in a nice neighborhood.  Because she was a widow, the community was very helpful and supportive of her when she moved in.  They would bring her homemade meals, desserts and even offer to baby sit while she found a new job.  Of course, this woman was very happy about the support and such that she received.  She never thought about doing a personal investigation on anyone to discover a secret of anyone. The man who lived next door would often come out and talk to her over the fence.  She enjoyed gardening, so she would weed the garden and plant seeds while they chatted.  The woman noticed that her daughter enjoyed talking to the man as well.  Several times she watched the man laughing at her daughter's 8 year old jokes over the fence.  For some unknown reason, it made the hair on the back of her neck stand up.

After a couple more times of watching her daughter talk to this man over the fence, the mother informed her daughter that she was not to stand outside and speak to the man anymore.  When her daughter asked why, she didn't have a reply.  In fact, she even asked herself what made her feel so strange about the man talking to her daughter.  He had been nothing but nice and probably just felt sorry for the little ones losing their dad the way they did.  Without trying to alarm her daughter, the mom simply told her that it wasn't polite to hold the man up all day, chatting and bothering him.

Searching on the web one day, the mother came across a website where she could search public records.  The explanation of the site piqued the mother's interest and she had a thought.  Knowing the next door neighbor's name, she decided to check him out.  Because the website said that you could discover secrets about someone just by knowing their name, the mother decided to satisfy her curiosity.  She typed in the name and within seconds she was directed to a page full of secrets discovered  on this very 'nice' man.  In fact, she received his local and national criminal and civil records, his phone number, his address, and his arrest records.  It turns out that a few years ago; this man was convicted of touching a child under the age of 8 for sexual purposes - he was a local sex offender!  The mother was absolutely horrified.  She could not believe what she was reading and that no one had told her anything.

Deciding it must be a mistake, she checked the local sex offender list and sure enough, he was there.  The mother alerted the police that the man had been speaking with her daughter, and decided to move.  She was so thankful that the website had been there and that she had been feeling strangely about him.  Without those two things, she didn't want to think about what might have eventually happened.  If you are suspicious about someone, please do what this mother did and check it out.  You never know what kind of tragedy you can prevent.
